Make-Mend- Upcycle
The global clothing industry accounts for around 8% of all greenhouse emissions and produces about 100 to 150 billion items, not only using precious raw materials; but producing 206.456 tonnes of textile waste in the UK alone. per each year. Annually each Briton produces an average of 3.1KG textile waste; of this 0.3kg is recycled and 0.4 kg is reused. However, 0.8kg is incinerated and 1.7kg is disposed of in landfills. I have challenged myself not to purchase any new clothing, including lingerie and swimwear; but to make, repair and upcycle my current wardrobe and utilise my fabric stash for the next twelve months.
It is my intention not to dispose of any textiles. But to upcycle and reclaim clothes and fabrics. Please join me on my journey and see if my creativity can match my ambition and discover what I learn along the way
