About me
My name is Sharon, I live in Yorkshire UK with my husband Gordon and have been dressmaking for over 50 years.
I am passionate about fabrics, yarn and threads, and love making clothes in my own style, that are a good fit, are well constructed and long lasting.
We are both also passionate about the environment and are eco activists; I was horrified to learn that the fashion industry accounts for approximately 8- 10% of all emissions, double the amount of aviation and maritime industries put together. (Earth.org https://earth.org/fast-fashions-detrimental-effect-on-the-environment/)
My other interests include gardening, photography and inventing vegetarian recipes and we enjoy walking in the stunning Yorkshire and UK countryside.
I have three stepchildren who I am proud to call friends and 4 precious grandchildren. We worry about the world that they will be facing in the near future; it is therefore important for us to make lifestyle choices that reduce our negative impact on the planet; including a mostly vegetarian diet, no flying, recycling, reduced consumption and organic gardening.
I have challenged myself this year not to send any clothes to Landfill, or buy any new clothes in the coming year; instead I will be making, mending, upcycling and repurposing my wardrobe. I will document every step of my journey and assess how successful each item is and what I have learned along the way.
